What is Meade?

Meade is a community born of the combined experiences of its people guided by the vision of its founding benefactors. A mixed group of war refugees, misfits, and wanderers came together to build a safe harbor for the good people of this land who live and work in peace. What they ended up building was the cross-cultural artistic epicenter we know today.

Travelers Tower, as it is known today, was built long before the war and was originally home to a very talented wizard. Little is known about the man himself, due to the extended vacancy of the tower during the wars, but evidence of his ability still remains in the magic of the tower and the Canaled Peninsula.

While the wizard began the process of creating the Sphere of Gigantism, he was unable to complete the project. The Founding Three came into possession of the orb when they acquired the tower some unknown number of years later. The three journeyed to the nearest elven city where Omicron was elected to deliver news of the orb to the its leaders. Willow and Kimmy-Ko remained behind to hold the orb outside of the elven woods and territory while Omicron went ahead to the city itself.

Omicron was able to persuade the elves to accept the orb and the task of completing the wizard's work. The orb was secured in specially prepared nesting boxes and safely delivered into the care of the elven scientists. News of the orb was not heard for another 9 years.

The great and glorious wood elves completed the Sphere of Gigantism! Kaaervain, Willow's father, brought word to the founders who were, at this time, eager for a new project.

Willow led the team that delivered the completed Sphere of Gigantism to the people of the barrenlands. She proposed the construction of the canals now joining Maddia to the desert city of Oasis. She coordinated the project construction along with Omicron who aided in the development of irrigation systems. The use of the nutrient rich waters surrounding Maddia to irrigate crops has enhanced the lives of everyone in the three Sister Cities. Without the aid of the Founding Three and the elven scientists, the people of the barrenlands would likely have continued to roam the deserts.

Public Housing

All Meade citizens are provided with free public housing. Humans and those that typically chose to make their homes above ground are offered a townhome. The larger population of gnomes chose to build below. The entrance to the Gnome City of Meade is in the Village of Meade.

The original Village of Meade was fortified by what would first appear to be a wall and is in fact a massive public housing project that just happens to function as a protective wall.

Creating the Wall of Housing

The outer wall is 30 feet tall and 10 feet thick. The wall itself is comprised of a 5 foot thick mass of concrete encased in stone and whitewashed stucco.

Laborers assisted in marking out the footprint of the massive wall, while magic users created the stone framework in which the aggregate and cement would be poured.
